Science Communication Intern

From 7 to 18 April 2008, four participants travelled to Milton Keynes, UK, to take part in the second Module of the Med-Vet-Net Science Communication Internship.

Pawel Stefanoff from PZH in Poland, Maike Koningstein from SSI in Denmark, and Sophie Granier and Sandrine Lacour from AFSSA in France, continued on from the previous Modules� training to gain some insight into publishing and working with the Media.

The two-week course � �Influencing the Media, and Publishing� was devised by the Med-Vet-Net Communications Unit, Teresa Belcher and Jennie Drew. The course involved a mixture of in-house tuition as well as external companies providing expert training.

Saturday morning in �Espace Lamennais�, the last session comprised mixed subjects, and, as such, it was a good reflection of the overall congress. Even though the four final presentations were on totally different subjects and points of view, they all had in common a goal to provide safe food to the public.

MRA Course in Milan

The University of Milan is offering a degree of Master in Risk Assessment and Risk Analysis, starting in November 2008. The programme is organised by the University of Milan Departments:� Dept of Occupational and Environmental Health (Faculty of Medicine), and the Department of Pharmacological Sciences (Faculty of Pharmacy).

HPA Symposium

On Monday 15th September, a one-day symposium will be held at the University of Warwick on the topic of gastrointestinal infections. The symposium will be jointly organised by the Food Standards Agency, the Veterinary Laboratory Agency, the National Public Health Service Wales and Health Protection Scotland.
