TrichiNet Key Scientists

The aim of TrichiNet is to establish a European network for risk assessment, detection and control of trichinellosis. An index of key scientists working on Trichinella and reference laboratories has been compiled based on International Commission on Trichinellosis (ICT) membership, meeting participation, EU research contracts, publications, and recommendations. The index was published 9 August 2005 and updated 28 November 2005. The current spreadsheet includes 41 scientists.

The index is available in the form of a spreadsheet file containing a main sheet named “Database” (43 items; keywords defining working groups), which is associated via hypertext links to detailed information about individual experts.

A request for participation was sent out to experts working in reference laboratories in Europe, including the 10 Med-Vet-Net institutes involved in TrichiNet, and also to experts in neighbouring countries where trichinellosis is endemic.

The index is intended to facilitate the contact and exchange between colleagues, as well as the formation of new working groups for future research on Trichinella.
TrichiNet is a network involving 10 Med-Vet-Net institutes :
  • AFSSA (co-ordination), France
  • BfR, Germany
  • DFVF, Denmark
  • ISCIII, Spain
  • ISS, Italy
  • PZH, Poland
